The magnificent city of Erfurt in the heart of Germany is a truly unique architectural and cultural marvel, evoking the richness of centuries gone by within its perfectly preserved and richly textured medieval centre. One of the many remarkable architectural monuments which are not to be missed as part of the Erfurt experience is the Merchant’s Bridge, or the Kramerbrucke, which is the longest bridge in the whole of Europe to have houses built along its entire length.

Eisenach was an early capital of Thuringia in the 12th and 13th centuries. Martin Luther came to Eisenach and translated the Bible into German. In 1685, Johann Sebastian Bach was born here. During the early-modern period, Eisenach was a residence of the Ernestine Wettins and was visited by numerous representatives of Weimar classicism like Johann Wolfgang Goethe. In 1869, the SDAP, one of the two precursors of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) was founded in Eisenach.

Gotha is dominated by a huge park in the center which surrounds the 17th century castle “Friedenstein”, the largest early Baroque castle and grounds in all of Germany. The triple-wing building was designed by an architect named Rudolphi and its construction required the work of 1,000 craftsmen and laborers.

From Tabarz, we can get there by public transport for free.
